Navy: a moda náutica / Nautic fashion

Note: This post is bilingual, English translation at the bottom half.

  • Sempre combine as peças estilo navy com acessórios dourados, pois são eles os responsáveis por dar o ar de glamour ao look;
  • Aposte em peças de alfaiaria, como um shorts branco com o cós mais alto ou um macacão com a cintura marcada;
  • Incremente a produção com plataformas, sapatilhas ou rasteirinhas;
  • As calças pantalonas são ótimas para dar um ar mais chique à produção. Use com blusinhas listradas e acessórios grandes;
  • Ah!

And look at me as Navy baby! I've always been into trends!

I confess to you that when I came across the theme "Navy" I thought, what is it?? Ignorance or not, I went, once again, to the internet, looking for ideas, concepts and suggestions to set up my look this week.

And  I found some really cool stuff that I will share with you ....

Navy is nothing more than that classic combination of colors navy blue, white and red, popularly it's the sailor look. To make the look using this trend is indicated the use of details and accessories with anchors, ropes, ships .... Also, we suggest the combination of gold, for it is he who gives the "glamour" to the visual.

Look at the images above for some inspiration.

On another web page, I found quick tips for composing a Navy look with no mistakes and, of course, I'm sharing these tips with you.

To play it safe, have in mind:

  • Always combine navy style pieces with golden accessories because they are responsible for giving the air of glamour to the look;
  • Bet on good cut pieces as a white shorts with the waistband higher or overalls with marked waist;
  • Make your look better with platforms sandals, sneakers or flats;
  • Pants are great  to give a more upscale production. Use striped blouses and big accessories;
  • Ah! When composing your look with the striped parts one must take into account their biotype. Watch out for horizontal stripes, as they widen the silhouette.

Full of information on the subject, I went to my wardrobe for the pieces that could compose the look. Hope you enjoy.

Portanto nada a declarar. Amo mar, adoro vermelho ... enfim, marinheira!!!!

No, I don't want to have a lover in every port, but when I met my husband (who is a DJ) he played this song at the party. And that contributed to the family we have today. So nothing else to say, I love the sea, and I love read... therefore, sailor!!!!

Sailor beware! Guest Blogger/Leitora Convidada: Beatriz Ribeiro

Note: This post is bilingual, English translation at the bottom half.

Blusa: Triton | Saia e Jaqueta Perfecto Iaiá | Sapato: Arezzo | Bolsa Postman Datelli |
Óculos: Fause Haten| Relógio Diesel | Colar e Anéis: acervo pessoal

Quem sou eu?

Me apaixonei, comprei.

Mas, como falei antes, to tentando me conter.

Sailing is necessary, but the navy trend is there to show that you can survive even in the sea of concrete. Since I am a ocean-dependent, I love this trend, and I make sure to bring a little bit of the sea to my urban life: I live inside imaginary boats.

Who are you? Beatriz Pinto Ribeiro, I work in advertising and journalism, my age is not really set in stone (It can vary from 13 to 97 on the same day), and I was a hipster before this term existed.

How do you define your style? Even though I kind of have a pin up flare and love dresses and cleavages, I need to feel super comfortable, but that does not imply jeans and t-shirt. I am definitely vintage, but without a clear period in mind.

How is your shopping process? Usually pretty easy: I love it, I buy it. It's been really hard to join in on the challenge of not shopping for anything new. But it's necessary. Besides, I need to save to invest in a personal project, and there's absolutely no more space inside my wardrobe. And believe me: I wear everything I own.

What was the last item you bought? Even being super careful about not shopping, I couldn't resist some black sequinted leggings I saw Saturday at Iaiá. It's super basic and fits in any corner, so yeah, I got it. :D

What do you think about going an entire year without shopping? So, it's been really hard. But, as I said before, I try to contain myself. The worst are the accessories. I love glasses and sunglasses, scarves, and hats.

Hey Sailor!

So, on the week we chose Navy as a theme, MAC Cosmetics is launching its new collection, called Hey Sailor. Such a coincidence! It has not only cosmetics, but also accessories, as you can see.

Images from Temptalia

I asked Anita to start our week, because I really had no idea of what to wear. But then I went through my wardrobe and came up with this look.

Nails and lips were easy: I love red. But I only have 2 t-shirst that can be considered navy blue and I chose to wear this skirt that is not actually white. Good thing I had bought this red belt on Feb 29th, don't you think? On my nails Passionate Red, by Maybelline, and on lips Forever Red, by Maybelline, plus a gloss on top, by Eudora.

The sandals I bought in New York City, back in 2008 and I hardly wear them because they hurt my feet! They are American Eagle and they were incredibly cheap, just 9.99 dollars!

T-shirt and skirt bought in São Paulo, at Bom Retiro (if you visit São Paulo, you gotta go to Bom Retiro!), and the necklace was handmade by my dear friend Cris Moreira.

Man, late night blogging is not my friend. I mixed up Portuguese and English on the picture.

Oh hello lovely Occupiers. Today Vica and I switched, so I have the pleasure of writing the first post of the week! And what a week this one is going to be! The theme is Navy, French Navy to be more precise, and we're bringing back one of my favorite trends: Stripes. And to add to the fun, the color palette we usually see on Navy outfits include a lot of gold, navy, black, white, and red. All favorites.

See? Here's the color palette I made. You can't really see the white, but it's there.

And here is a bunch of images that I used to inspire my outfit. All those pieces were on sale a few weeks ago on Ideeli.com. Unfortunately they are all gone by now, but I love how they styled them together. I was especially inspired by the look with the red pants:

Good thing I can't shop, or I'd have bought every single piece from this sale.

I don't have a lot of striped shirts, only those two I talked about a long long time ago (here). And they were both black. So I had to leave my favorite navy blue colors out of this outfit, and concentrate on the combination of black stripes and red. Here's my outfit:

Skirt: Anthropologie (seen here before) | Shirt: Forever 21 | Blazer: Express (seen here and here before) |
Flats: Rocket Dog | Necklace: Forever 21 (seen here before)

I wore this cute litte outfit to go hang out with my friend Sara Quintero (she will be guest blogging for us very soon!) and try out her new DSLR camera. Which reminds me, all the picture in this post were shot by her! The location is my all time favorite, Grand America Hotel. Just love that place, can't help it.

Olá queridas amigas do Occupy the Wardrobe.

Sapatilha: Rocket Dog | Colar: Forever 21 (usei aqui antes)
