Black and orange again?

This week our theme was the color black and for 3 of us it was rather difficult. As you must have read on Carol's and Michele's posts, it's been pretty hot in Brazil this time of the year and wearing black in the summer can be pure torture.

As I've said before, I don't like to dress all black, I think I look like someone who's attending a funeral. I love colors, so the theme this week was a real challenge for me.

But my fellow occupiers inspired me with their looks, and I went for an almost all black look, matching peep toes and a formal dress, plus orange feet nails (nail polish by Big Universo)!

This all black look is a major breakthrough for me. I wish I had an orange bag to match, but I don't and I can't buy it now.

As for buying... well, it's been almost a month without shopping for anything, really (except groceries) and it's been quite difficult. I started writing this post earlier and just coz I said that, I happened to pass by the drugstore and ended up buying a few things. But I swear I needed them!

This week's been particularly difficult for me, and when you feel depressed it's so easy to fall for temptation! But I resisted! Last wednesday I was feeling really down and I happened to pass by some street shops that were displaying beautiful green (my favorite color!) dresses on their windows! I almost went mad, but instead I took a picture and walked away.

Hope my boyfriend reads this because I'm so in love with the bright green dress (maybe you could get me as gift, honey?)...

Anyway, I still have to finish organizing my closet and I have to finish my inventory as well. Anita gave great tips for organizing, and shared the spreadsheet I'm using to control my wardrobe. My fellow occupiers don't want to disclose their inventory, but I'll share mine with you as soon as I'm finished, because I want this year without shopping to be completely on the open, I'm really willing to share all about this with you.

Also, I intend to save money for real with this project and so, for every item I really, really, really wanna buy, I'll spare the money to my savings account. By the end of 2012 I'll tell you how much I saved, ok?

For today's look my friend Cris took pictures of me on the street, on my way to work. I hope you like them. We accidentaly bumped into an instalation part of the Artmosfera, which is an art exhibit that is all around town. I hope you like the pictures.

And you? Got any projects for 2012? Why not try to spend, if not a year, maybe a couple months without shopping? What do you think?

  3. Love it. I've started taking photos of things instead of buying them too. It alleviates the desire somewhat!!
