We've entered the 4ht month of our challenge and now the effects of it are starting to show off...

I was complaining since the beggining, I guess. I miss shopping and I've been spending a little money on nail polish and shampoo, but it doesn't supply my needs. Now that the season changed, and the shop windows are full of news items, it's becoming harder to resist.

Even Anita, who's the most motivated since the start of Occupy the Wardrobe, had a breakout and said out loud: I wanna go shopping!!!!!!!!!

But fear not. We haven't gone shopping. We are just realizing how difficult the task is. I'm really considering paying off the abs and going shopping, especially now that I need winter clothes! Oh, God, it's really, really hard.

Also, I've said I won't be buying any books for at least 6 months... which makes it even harder not to buy clothes. I have tons of books, I really don't need anymore (I've got plenty to read and I do read, but there's really no need for news books when I've got 15 books on my bedside table, waiting to be read, plus the 9 - yeah 9! - books that I'm currently reading. Enough is enough).

My boyfriend and I decided to go abroad for our holidays at the end of the year and I'm trying really hard to focus on that and save all the money I can, so I can start 2013 travelling and shopping! Please wish us luck!

Entramos no 4o mês do nosso desafio e agora os efeitos dele começam a aparecer...

Tenho reclamado desde o começo, eu acho. Sinto falta de comprar e tenho gasto um dinheirinho em esmaltes e shampoo, mas isso não me satisfaz. Agora que a estação mudou e as vitrines estão cheias de novidades, está ficando mais difícil resistir.

Mesmo a Anita, que desde o começo sempre foi a mais motivada, teve um chilique e gritou: Eu quero comprar!!!!!!!!

Mas não temam: não fomos às compras. Estamos apenas percebendo agora o quão difícil é essa tarefa. Estou até mesmo considerando pagar os abdominais e ir comprar, especialmente agora que preciso de roupas de inverno! Olha, é muito, muito difícil.

Além disso, eu disse que não ia comprar livros por pelo menos 6 meses... o que tá deixando ainda mais difícil não comprar roupas. Tenho toneladas de livros, realmente não preciso de mais nenhum no momento (tenho o suficiente para ler e realmente leio, mas não tem motivo pra comprar livros novos quando tenho 15 livros na mesinha de cabeceira, aguardando para serem lidos, mais os 9 - isso mesmo, 9! - livros que estou lendo nesse momento. Já é demais).

Meu namorado e eu decidimos ir pro exterior nos feriados de final de ano e estou tentando mesmo me concentrar nisso e economizar todo dinheiro que eu posso, pra começar 2013 viajando e comprando! Por favor nos desejem sorte!

I read somewhere: you're freerer than you think. 

I'm thinking about this as these past weeks have been tough on me. Shops all around are on sale now but I simply forgot about shopping for clothes, as I've got other things on my mind. But yeah, maybe, in regarding to shopping, we are actually freerer than we think. We don't need to consume so much, that's for sure.

So my fellow occupiers have other things on their minds, as unfortunetely Michele's father is at the hospital now. He's stable I guess, and we'll be fine, but she, for sure, is completely worried and out of her mind these days. Let's pray that everything turn out fine for them. 

This week was free theme. So I didn't have to think much about what to wear today. I went for something light, because it's been very hot here. Also because I want to feel lighter than I currently do.

I'm not gonna say what's wrong, but there's something (or maybe somethings) wrong in my life right now and I got figure things out. 

Anyway, I'm really looking forward to Feb 29th, our only shopping day of the year (read the rules). 

Also, I'm sharing a look I wore the other night, my boyfriend and I went on a romantic dinner and I had this dress that I bought at the japanese neighbourhood in São Paulo a long time ago and had never worn it. As it was a special occasion, I decided to give it a try and I think it looks beautiful. 

And I have to tell you that was on television this week! I was interviewed for a local news, about online shopping. It's in Portuguese, but you'll be able to see Occupy the Wardrobe on screen!

Li em algum lugar: você é mais livre do que pensa. 

Tenho pensado nisso porque essas últimas semanas foram duras comigo. As lojas em todos os lugares estão em liquidação agora, mas eu simplesmente esqueci tudo o que se refere a compras, porque tenho outras coisas em mente. Mas sim, talvez, no que diz respeito a comprar, nós realmente sejamos mais livres do que pensamos. Não precisamos consumir tanto, isso é certo.

Minhas amigas de Occupy também têm outras coisas em mente: infelizmente o pai da Mi está no hospital agora. Acho que o quadro dele é estável, e que ele vai ficar bem, mas ela, claro, está totalmente preocupada e fora de si por esses dias. Vamos rezar pra que tudo dê certo para os dois. 

Essa semana era a semana do tema livre. Então não tive que pensar muito sobre o que vestir hoje. Quis algo leve, porque tem feito muito calor aqui. E também porque eu quero algo mais leve do que meu estado de espírito. 

Não vou dizer o que está errado, mas há algo (ou algos) errado na minha vida agora e eu tenho que resolver algumas coisas. 

Enfim, de qualquer maneira, estou ansiosa pelo 29 de fevereiro, nosso único dia de compras no ano (leia as regras). 

Além disso, vou mostrar o look da outra noite, meu namorado e eu fomos a um jantar romântico e eu tinha esse vestido que eu comprei na Liberdade, em São Paulo, que eu nunca tinha usado. Como a ocasião era especial, decidi experimentar e acho que ficou bonito. 

E também tenho que contar pra vocês que eu apareci na televisão essa semana! Fui entrevistada para o RBS Notícias, o jornal local, sobre compras pela internet. O Occupy the Wardrobe deu as caras na entrevista!

Último post do mês. Sensação de missão cumprida (ou pelo menos parte dela). Não foi fácil ficar esse primeiro mês sem compras. Liquidações e mais liquidações, vários eventos para ir e nenhum vestidinho novo. Como tenho um filhinho pequeno, naquela idade em que a roupinha só serve durante um mês e depois já precisa comprar maior, tive que entrar em lojas de departamentos para ver coisinhas pra ele, e resisti. Nós quatro já conseguimos passar um mês inteirinho sem comprar roupas, e você?
Para comemorar a etapa vencida e para suportar o calor que faz em Porto Alegre, escolhi para hoje um vestidinho bem leve. Ficou fácil de perceber que eu adoro vestidos, afinal esse é o quarto que posto aqui. Dessa vez não precisava vestir preto, então também optei por uma cor clara, o que ajuda bastante quando está muito quente.

Last post of the month. Sense of achievement (or at least some of the achievement for this year). It was not easy to get through the first month without shopping. Everything on sale, many events to go and no new dresses. As I have a small baby at that age where the outfit is only good for one month and then I need to buy another, as he grows and grows, I had to go into department stores to see little things for him, and I resisted. We made it through a month without buying clothes, and you?

To celebrate this one month that went by, and to withstand the heat that is in Porto Alegre, I chose to dress a very lightly today. I guess you already noticed that I love dresses, after all this is the fourth one that I post here. As this week's theme was free, I went for a light color, which helps a lot when it's too hot.

Another week went by / Mais uma semana se passou...

Another week of no shopping went by and little by little my anxiety has subsided. I mean, there are still many weeks to come, it's been just 14 days, but I still can't buy anything mostly because my bank hasn't sent me my credit card (so it's a win-win: I can't buy anything at all!).

This past week Fernanda wrote about her big problem: shoe sales. I must confess that I'm a big shoe lover and usually I buy more shoes than clothes. I still have to do my inventory, but, oh God, it's such hard work I always give up before I start! But I promise that I'll have that finished before January ends (this January, ok?).

Anita wrote this nice post about our first week, she took pictures of all her looks through that week, I don't do that, but sometimes I take pictures using my cell phone and post them to twitter, you can follow it here.

I'm truly happy and grateful that these girls decided to embrace the idea. Carol and Michele have been creating beautiful daily looks and it's really supportive to know that there are other people trying to do the same I'm also trying to do. Anita is by far the most excited about the project and she's a big inspiration. Fernanda is the one who's been showing the most signs of despair, but that's also good: what we might think is easy for us, might be very difficult for other people. This is a challenge for us all, and I hope we all make it through 2012 without cheating or giving up.

So far, it's been very good. We hope that you'll keep reading and supporting and giving us ideas for the 352 days we've got left for Occupying our Wardrobes!

Um pouquinho mais de Florence pra vocês! (O nome dela foi inspirado na Florence Welch)

Mais uma semana de não comprar passou e pouco a pouco minha ansiedade baixou. Quer dizer, ainda temos muitas semanas pela frente, passaram-se apenas 14 dias, e eu ainda ainda não posso comprar nada não só por causa do Occupy, mas principalmente porque meu banco querido não me mandou meu cartão! (Mas é um "ganha-ganha": não posso comprar nada de nada!).

Essa semana que passou a Fernanda escreveu sobre o maior problema pra ela: liquidações de sapatos. Preciso confessar que eu amo sapatos e geralmente compro mais sapatos do que roupas. Ainda tenho que terminar meu inventário, mas, ah meu Deus, é uma trabalheira e eu sempre desisto antes de começar! Mas prometo que vou terminar isso antes de janeiro acabar (este janeiro, ok?).

A Anita escreveu esse ótimo post sobre a nossa primeira semana, tirou fotos de todos os looks dela naqueles dias, eu não faço isso, mas às vezes tiro fotos com meu celular e coloco no twitter, dá pra ir conferindo aqui.

Estou realmente feliz e agradecida que essas gurias decidiram abraçar essa idéia. A Carol e a Mi têm criado looks lindos e é muito bom saber que há outras pessoas tentando fazer o mesmo que eu estou tentando fazer. A Anita é de longe a mais entusiasmada com esse projeto e é uma grande inspiração. A Fernanda é quem tem mostrado a maioria dos sinais de desespero, mas isso também é bom: o que a gente acha que é fácil pra nós, pode ser super difícil pra outra pessoa. É um desafio pra nós todas, e espero que a gente consiga passar por 2012 sem trair o projeto e sem desistir.

Até agora tem sido muito bom! A gente espera que vocês continuem lendo e dando apoio e idéias para os 352 dias que ainda temos de Occupy the Wardrobe pela frente!

O pecado mora ao lado/ Temptation is all around me

Ontem eu estava num aniversário e ouvi um cara que estava na mesa dizer: "Eu vou comprar tudo este ano. Se o mundo acabar, eu gastei meu dinheiro em coisas que eu queria, se não acabar, eu tive uma boa desculpa para comprá-las". Isso me fez pensar sobre este desafio e sobre a reação das pessoas quando eu falo a respeito. Não será fácil, principalmente porque estou numa luta contra meu peso ao mesmo tempo - e como sabem aqueles que tem problemas com a balança, quanto mais gordura tu queima, mais confiante tu fica e, mais vontade se tem de comprar roupas que fiquem bem no corpo.

Eu tenho um problema especial com sapatos: eu entro e saio de dietas desde os meus 14 anos, então a única coisa que nunca mudou e que eu sempre pude confiar é o número que eu calço. Eu tenho muitos pares, algumas pessoas podem dizer que tenho sapatos demais, mas alguns eu tenho desde 1996 e estão em perfeito estado. Eu não dou bola pra roupas, mas morro por sapatos. E é época de liquidações, aiaiai!

Hoje, no caminho da fisioterapia pra casa (um percurso de 15 minutos a pé), eu decidi tirar fotos de todas as lojas que estivessem anunciando promoções, pra mostrar como é difícil resistir às tentações.

O bom é que eu não posso comprar, mas posso ganhar sapatos, roupas, acessórios. E meu aniversário é dia 10 de fevereiro. FYI, eu calço 34/35.

Yesterday I was at a birthday party and I overheard a guy at the table say:"I'm buying everything this year. If the world ends, I'd have spent my money on things I wanted, if not, at least I had a good excuse to buy them". It made me think about this challenge and about everyone's reactions when I talk about it. It's not going to be easy, specially since I'm on a battle with my weight at the same time - and as anyone with weight issues knows, the more fat you burn, the more confident you get and the more you want to buy clothes that flatter your figure.

I have a particular problem with shoes: I've been on and off diets since I was 14, so the only thing that never changed and I could always rely on was the shoe size. I have lots of pairs, some may say I have too many, but some of them are from 1996 and are in perfect shape. I don't care for clothes, but I die for shoes. And there are SALES!

Today, on my way home from physical therapy (a 15-minute walk), I decided to take pictures of every shoe store with a sale sign, to show you how hard it is to resist temptation.

The good thing is: I can't buy, but I can be given shoes, clothes, accessories. And my birthday is on February 10th. FYI, my shoe size is 6 (EUR 37)

Carol: um vestido para a terça-feira/ A dress for tuesday

Recém começamos o ano sem compras e já quase tive uma recaída. É que começar nessa época é complicado. As melhores promoções do ano são após o Natal e durante o Carnaval, quando a cidade está vazia e os lojistas desesperados para alcançar metas. Aí a gente vê aquele vestido que sempre sonhou pela metade do preço que custava antes. SOCORRO!!! Mas podem se orgulhar de mim, eu resisti bravamente e aqui continuo na missão de criar looks todos os dias com o que está no meu armário.
Estamos na semana dos vestidos e eu achei isso ótimo, afinal adoro e tenho vários. Mas a dúvida ficou em qual usar. Curto, comprido, rodado, reto, liso, estampado, justo, largo. Então resolvi apostar num vestido que está na minha lista de preferidos e, num calor de quase 40ºC, não existe nada melhor do que ele.

Recently we started our year without shopping and I almost had a relapse. It's because we strated in a complicated time. The best deals of the year are offered after Christmas and during Carnival, when the city is empty and shop owners are desperate to achieve goals. Then we see that dress we were crazy about for half the price it cost before. HELP! But you can be proud of me, I resisted bravely and I continue the mission of creating looks every day using just what is in my closet.
This is Dress week and I thought that was great, as I have several dresses that I love. But the question was: which do I wear? Short, long, straight, plain, printed, and so on. So I decided to bet on a dress that is on my list of favorites, and under a heat of about 40 ° C (104 ºF), there is nothing better than this dress.
