Plaid is such a cold weather print, no wonder when searching for some mad plaid inspiration, most looks I came across all fit very well into the cold weather style. I'm so sorry but I always can't help but using song titles for posts here. I'm way late for my post on purple week, but here it goes. I thought I had lots of purple stuff, but it seems that I was wrong. What I have in purple are mostly winter sweaters and as it hasn't been so cold these days, I chose my purple heels instead. I bought those at H&M in Paris and I totally love those shoes.

Desculpem, mas não consigo me controlar e resistir à tentação de usar nomes de música como títulos de post. Estou super atrasada com meu look da semana do roxo, mas aqui vai. Achei que tinha muita roupa roxa, mas vi que na verdade tudo que eu tenho são blusões de inverno e como não tem estado tão frio, resolvi usar esses sapatos roxos. Comprei-os na H&M de Paris e amo-os!

Adventures in Trading / Aventuras Trocando Roupa

Early this year, when I reorganized my closet, I tried on everything I had and I made a big pile of clothes that didn't really look good on me or didn't fit or I didn't wear it any longer, and then put them away for a while. I intended to take them to Uptown Cheapstake, a store that buys and sells used clothing, but only got around doing it this weekend (yes, trading clothes is OKAY according to our rules).

I brought along a few bags with clothes, but they only got accepted the following 5 items:

Madden Girl Heels | Forever 21 Bow Belt | Skinny Jeans | H&M Dress | Forever 21 Mini 

Those shoes are gorgeous, but I haven't worn them in a while. The belt really doesn't fit me, neither does those jeans that I actually bought really cheap. The dress, I bought at H&M a year ago, and I really liked it at the time, but it doesn't make me look too good. And finally this cute Forever 21 mini skirt, that, well, it's just too short for an almost-30 year old.

I had the option of taking 15 dollars back home with me for those clothes, or to trade them for something in the store, in the maximum amount of 20 dollars. Any other year, I'd probably go home somewhat satisfied with 15 bucks, but this year I am on a mission, and I intended to trade those clothes in, because it is a totally Occupy the Wardrobe thing to do, right?

So what does 5 used clothes got me? Check it out:

Yeah, not much. I scoured that store, and it really isn't my style. I went with a list of things I'd like to get, including at least a pair of comfy shoes (check!) because the comfy shoes I have are getting a little too old. So I was happy to find those super comfy pointy heels.

My other goal was to find a nice pair of colored/patterned jeans. I tried a few and... none worked. But luckily, I found this hi-lo skirt and I was so happy about it! I didn't think I'd find anything so cool and something I wanted so bad (I've tried to make myself hi-lo skirt about 3 times already, unsuccessfully).

So there you go! That was my first try at using one of those store to trade some clothes, and I'm happy with the results. I am bummed that they didn't buy all of my other in-very-good-conditions items, so if anyone is interesteed in some trading, hit me up!

Inside Uptown Cheapstake

No começo do ano, eu fiz uma reorganização enorme no meu closet, e separei uma pilha de roupas que não me serviam mais, que não ficavam boas em mim, ou que eu quase nunca usava. Mas eu coloquei tudo num closet, e esqueci delas por uns meses, até esse final de semana quando finalmente as levei para uma loja que compra e vende roupas usadas (sim, de acordo com as nossas regras trocas valem!).

Eu levei duas sacolas cheias, mas no final eles só aceitaram esses items: Um par de sapatos da Madden Girl que eu não usava faz tempo. O cinto nunca me serviu direito, assim como essa calça jeans, além disso ambos foram bem baratos. O vestido eu comprei na H&M um ano atrás, mas no fim ele não ficava muito bem em mim. E essa mini-saia eu quase não levei, mas, ela é muito curta para alguém como eu que não tem mais 15 anos de idade...

Eu tinha duas opções, ou eu levava 15 dólares pra casa comigo, ou aproveitava e olhava o estoque deles e trocava por algumas coisas de lá, e como eu queria a experiência de trocar roupas para contar por aqui, aproveitei e olhei a loja com mais atenção.

Então, o que as minhas 5 peças me renderam?

Não muito... Eu olhei quase tudo que eles tinham, e nada é muito a minha cara. Eu tinha uma lista de coisas que eu gostaria, como jeans colorido e sapatos comfortáveis (os meus estão bem caidinhos). Fiquei feliz quando achei esse par de sapatos com salto baixinho, eles são uma delicia.

Mas o que eu fiquei mais feliz foi por ter achado essa saia mullet, eu estava querendo uma assim faz tempo, até tentei fazer uma (três) eu mesmo, mas sem sucesso.

Então é isso! Essa foi a primeira vez que eu troquei roupas numa loja, e eu estou satisfeita com o resultado. Só uma pena que ainda tenho uma sacola cheinha de roupas quase novas, e nenhuma delas vendo muito uso.. Alguém interessada em trocar roupas comigo?

So, I've been sitting here with this screen open for 20 minutes and I can't think of anything clever or insightful about my outfit this week! It was one of those days that I tried 50 things off my closet, and everything looked bland and boring. Till I decided to get a little bit crazy and wear my neon orange pants with a purple tank top. And here it is:

Purple Week / Semana do Roxo

You guys have no idea how excited I am about our theme this week. Purple is one of my absolute favorite colors, AND one of of the colors of my beloved school, Westminster College. So, if it wasn't August and 95 degrees out, I'd wear my college hoodie, but since this is not the case, I'll find something more summery for my look tomorrow, alright?

Before then, I'd thought I could spend this Monday sharing some favorite purple looks with you guys, for inspiration.

Essa semana eu estou super empolgada com o nosso tema! Roxo é uma as minhas cores preferidas, e também é uma das cores da faculdade que eu trabalho, Westminster College. Então, se não fosse agosto e um calor de 40 graus lá fora, eu fazia um look da semana com meu moleton da Westminster, mas como não é o caso, vou fazer um look de verão mesmo!

Cool and Sustainable Idea: The Versalette / Uma idéia super versátil: A Versalette

I came across this project a while ago on Kickstarter, but for some reason or other decided not to back it (ah, the regret!). And today, this idea crept back into my consciousness, and I immediately had to come here to write a post and share this with you all.

This is a super versatile item of clothing, I mean, I have a convertible dress that is super versatile, but this just goes beyond it. One piece, the Versalette, that can be worn in TWENTY different ways, as different dresses, skirts, shirts, cardigans, bolero, scarf, and even a purse. Now, if it could only double as a shoe too... Pretty incredible.

But I'll be honest and say, it's not its versatility that really got to me, but the fact that the Versalette is made with fabric 100% recycled — 50% plastic bottles and 50% cotton scraps. I mean, how cool is that? I might have to get it in 2013 (Spoiler alert: as I think of my personal goals for Occupy the Wardrobe in 2013, sustainable clothing is high on my list).

Vi este projeto há um tempo atrás no Kickstarter, mas por alguma razão ou outra decidi não participar dele (ah, o arrependimento!). E hoje, essa idéia deu as caras de novo na minha cabeça, e eu na hora quis vir aqui e compartilhar isso com vocês.

A idéia é simples e muito legal: a Versalette. Este é um item super versátil de roupa, que pode ser usado de vinte maneiras diferentes, como vestidos, saias, camisas, cachecols, bolero e até mesmo uma bolsa.  Incrível.

Mas vou ser honesta e dizer, não foi a versatilidade da Versalette que me conquistou, mas sim o fato dela ser feita com tecido 100% reciclado - 50% garrafas de plástico de 50% de retalhos de algodão. Quer dizer, como não achar isso o máximo? Acho que em 2013 eu compro um (Spoiler: tenho pensado nos meus objetivos para o Occupy the Wardrobe em 2013, e roupa sustentável é algo que quero explorar).

A break from the cold weather! I thought that I wouldn't be able to come up with a look this week, as it has been so cold here (it's winter time in Brazil, and in the south, where I live, it's been really cold). But today is quite a warm sunny day and I was able to wear a shirt.

Uma pausa do frio! Achei que não ia conseguir fazer um look pra essa semana, porque tem estado tão frio! Mas hoje até que está um dia quentinho (e ensolarado), e consegui vestir a camisa!
